Q: Why are some input fields grey and do not accept data when I want to enter Staff Effort?

You need to expand the Work Packages to the sub-level Tasks and then enter the Person Cost category. There you will be able to enter the person-months only for those specific tasks that match the participation period of the Contractor. Please note that you only can enter Staff Effort for your Contractor if you have Contractor Rights.
